Advanced Technology
Semiconductor and advanced materials facilities run on strict owner standards, tight schedules, and large construction teams that depend on the design being right the first time. Astra Engineering supports these projects with every discipline in house, working in one integrated model to a high standard for BIM quality. We have worked as a subconsultant on major facility construction and understand the submittal, RFI, and coordination processes these projects run on.
Process Engineering
We design advanced water treatment and chemical handling systems for semiconductor manufacturing. Process design defines the system that every other discipline builds around, from flow diagrams through equipment selection.
What you get
Process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and mass balances
Advanced water treatment system design
Chemical storage, transfer, and dosing system design
Equipment and instrument lists and specifications
Electrical Engineering
We design power distribution for process systems and support equipment, coordinated with the facility’s main distribution. Arc flash hazard analysis is available for new and existing equipment.
What you get
Power distribution and motor control design for process systems
Short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
Grounding and equipment connection details
Coordination with the facility’s electrical standards
Controls and Automation
Our controls engineers program and integrate the systems that run advanced water treatment and chemical handling equipment, following the owner’s standards for tagging, alarms, and networks.
What you get
Control narratives and PLC and HMI programming on Rockwell, Siemens, AVEVA, and Ignition
Control panel design
Integration with facility SCADA and monitoring systems
Commissioning support
From our CEO
My promise to you is simple: on your advanced technology projects, we deliver a coordinated design your contractors can build from and your team can rely on for years. We know these projects run on tight schedules and strict standards, and we hold ourselves to them. Your success is our measure of achievement.
Liz Parker
Chief Executive Officer
Structural Engineering
We design the foundations and supports that new process equipment and buildings sit on, coordinated with mechanical and electrical layouts in the shared model.
What you get
Equipment and building foundations
Equipment supports and pipe supports
Evaluations of existing structures for new loads
Heavy crane path planning for cranes up to 1.5 million pounds across soils, slabs, and buried structures
Stamped drawings and calculations
Mechanical Engineering
Our mechanical engineers turn the process design into equipment layouts and piping that can be fabricated and installed. They select materials and containment suited to the chemicals and water quality each system handles.
What you get
Equipment layouts and process piping design
Material and containment selection for chemical service
Pipe supports and coordination with structural design
Fabrication and installation ready drawings from the model
Site Infrastructure
We plan the site and design the underground utilities, grading, and drainage that serve large manufacturing campuses. Utility routes are coordinated with buildings, process systems, and the construction sequence so installation proceeds without conflicts.
What you get
Site planning for buildings, equipment yards, and utility corridors
Underground utility design for process and facility systems
Grading and storm drainage design
Crossing and sequencing coordination with the general contractor and trades
Integrated Design and BIM
All of our disciplines and drafters work in the same live Revit models through Autodesk Forma, so conflicts are caught during design instead of in the field. Models are built to the owner’s BIM execution plan, clash checked before each issue, and tied to laser scans of existing conditions.
What you get
One coordinated model across all disciplines
Models built to the owner’s BIM standards
Clash checks before each issue
Laser scans of existing conditions tied into the model
Why Choose Astra Engineering?
Turning complex industrial challenges into practical, profitable solutions for manufacturing, mining, and government clients across the Northwest
Most engineering firms either lack real-world operations experience or are too large to give your project personal attention. Astra combines practical expertise with responsive service to deliver solutions that actually work.
Real Operations Experience
Our founders bring 20+ years of hands-on plant operations experience. We don't just design systems - we understand how they perform in the real world, ensuring your investment delivers lasting value.
Agile & Responsive
You work directly with our leadership team, not layers of project managers, so decisions happen quickly and your project never gets lost in corporate bureaucracy.
Local Expertise, Regional Reach
Based in Idaho with deep Northwest roots, we understand regional regulations, environmental conditions, and business culture. Local presence means faster response times and stronger partnerships.
Full-Service Capability
From initial concept through construction support, our multi-disciplinary team handles every phase under one roof. No need to coordinate multiple vendors or worry about design handoffs.
